We just finished both seasons of The Diplomat in the last week or so, which was interesting because they're not as saintly as the West Wing characters, but they do also seem to want to do good, even if it's through a lens of their own selfishness. It was good.
Loved what you wrote. I’m still watching my favorite shows over and over, a left-over from Covid. I’m from Bellville, I sympathize with your mom. I think I’m finished with Twitter (x), many good things, but a lot of venom. I look forward to your next post.
I took, have had to Get Off the Internet. And I feel so seen because looking at random pet pictures ALSO does nothing for me! I've never totally understood that, to each their own, but it just doesn't work for me. I read The Bangles' Susanna Hoffs' romance novel, THIS BIRD HAS FLOWN, which I kinda think you'd enjoy because it's very . . . strange? I'd enjoy reading your opinion on it for sure.
I've been watching A Discovery of Witches. I read the first book in the series and kind of hated it, but Matthew Goode stars in the TV adaptation and I adore him, so I'm watching it and quite enjoying it. It's very dramatic and very implausible, but the settings are lush, the second season is set in Elizabethan England which is SO FUN, and witches and vampires and demons, oh my! I'm reading a historical romance written in 1999 by Teresa Medeiros called Charming the Prince and IT IS HILARIOUS. Seriously, just the biggest hoot of a romance. It is bringing me much joy. Basically it's about a guy so virulent, he has a dozen kids from two wives and various affairs, but his wives are both dead and his kids are menaces so he sends his squire off to find him a wife to manage them, but she has to be ugly so he won't want to bone her and sire MORE children. Of course, the wife the squire brings home is gorgeous, so this plan goes to hell. It's a perfect distraction.
I started Big Fan too and at first I thought, do I want to read about politics now, which turned into a big enthusiastic YES when I realized universal basic income was part of the plot. I love when romance meets social justice!
It was kind of nice to remember...oh yes...there are people working for policies that will actually help people (and sometimes those people are sexy former boy banders).

Hello to a fellow Bellville-ian!
My library reserve for the movie Civil War (Alex Garland) came in on election day (Lol) so I watched that last week. Bad timing! I enjoyed it though.
hahaha wow, that IS some timing! I haven't seen it (although I love Kirsten Dunst).

I actually have a LOT of thoughts on This Bird Has Flown so I’m gonna email you!

Omg, that romance sounds amazing!
