I watched this movie a ridiculous amount of times as a tween/teen, but it has been decades now since I've seen it. I'm very curious how I would watch it differently as a mother. I'm intrigued by the inserting of Bruce Springsteen songs, because I definitely know my version did not have them. All the sccenes with Rusty and Rocky in his bed at night when he's in pain (or dead) absolutely kill me.

You should definitely rewatch it! I would love to hear your thoughts as a mom!

This movie is incredibly underrated. My mom showed it to me last summer and we also had to check it out from the library! Such a well-done movie and incredibly heart wrenching <3

okay I almost had to skim toward the end because I do remember the ending to this film, viscerally, and it was so sad and upsetting to me as a teen that I didn't know if I wanted to relive it! but as usual you did an excellent job summarizing and commentating on the movie and I'm just glad we get to experience your summer of Cher. Also: not to belittle Cher's performance in Moonstruck, which is very good, and truly I have no knowledge of anything including who was up for Oscars in these years and who won what, BUT I have also wondered if her Oscar for Moonstruck was a little bit of "we'll make up for it now" for her NOT getting an Oscar for this film which just seems like a no-brainer to me!

Huh. Usually, I read those newsletters knowing I haven't watched the movie, as I'm not that into movies... but I do recall this one! I remembered the camp for the blind! AND THE FRIDGE SUIT!
