These books were my whole childhood!!! (Even though I still can’t believe one of Lester’s girlfriends makes him dinner in leopard print underwear and nothing else, pretty sure?) I actually got into the books because I had loved Shiloh, and so when Phyllis Reynolds Naylor came to my Barnes and Noble, I HAD to see her! I remember getting to the front and her saying in the kindest voice, “now, I’m sure these are all Alice books!” Of course, they weren’t, but I immediately had to buy some to see what the fuss was about. Alice is an icon!

Oh I loved these books! Re-reading them along with you! I gave the first one to my niece who lives here in DC and just started 6th grade. I hope she loves them too.

The first one, at least, feels pretty timeless...some things have changed but kids being embarrassed stays the same!

She read Dear God...It's Me Margaret before the movie came out and loved it, so I think even if it's dated, if the writing's good, it might stick!

I love this so much! I'm going to get my books out of my parents' basement next month so I can catch up and read along with you. The last time I reread them all was 2015, right when I started dating the guy I'm now married to. So I think it will be different now! Can't wait till the next post -- Alice in Rapture, Sort Of was the first Alice book I read, on the recommendation of my elementary school librarian.
