I agree with you completely about writing being about connection, and having an outlet just to write about whatever you're feeling or hyperfixated on or whatever else is such a gift. I LOVE your newsletter (as you know), and appreciate your shoutout for mine! I can only ever aspire to talk about movies the way you do because nobody -- and I really do mean this -- nobody makes me want to watch movies more than you.
Happy birthday! I love this newsletter so much, it’s fun to go with toy wherever you are taking us, it’s always interesting! And honestly it feels like a conversation with a friend!
I am so here for a John Irving read along (cider house rules is a great one and depending on how the election goes, could be very on point).
Happy birthday, No One Asked! I've been reading your work since the Hello Giggles days (though I always pause when I try to remember which was your first piece I ever read, and then stop myself from saying what I think because what if it wasn't you!). All that to say, I'm a big fan and thanks for this newsletter and your other writing.
Also, I really want you to catch up on Grantchester some day. That post is what convinced me to try it (I read the first book they were based on and was very underwhelmed), and then I got COVID and watched like the entire thing. But no one I know watches it so sometimes I think of plot developments and wonder what you think of them. And there's a whole new new vicar! Ah, maybe some day (but no pressure). And I'm glad there's expanded literary content coming. I got distracted from Franzen Fall by Life (although it's still sitting in my reading pile), but can't wait to come back and read those posts when I actually get to it.
The good thing about Franzen Fall is that it's always waiting for you!
Okay, I need to get back into Grantchester...if only because the new vicar means I can't spend more time being mad at Sidney. And I DO need to know what Geordie's up to...

Happy three years! Thanks for providing such joy and I'm looking forward to more!
thank you, Heather!
