As usual with the monthly roundup posts, I’m getting the ol’ “too long for email” message from Substack, so you can click “view entire message” or read it on the app/site if it’s cut off in your email.
Come September, I’ll be a more steady No One Asked writer. But for now, I spend all day hanging out with my newly nine-year-old. Do you know how fun that is? It rules. I have SO many newsletters I’d love to write, but so little time to write them because the thing about older kids is that they don’t go to bed early. On a regular basis, I’m heading to bed and he’s still up in his room reading or listening to Diary of a Wimpy Kid on his Yoto player.1
Summer is mostly about family, fun, and not working, but I do have some very fun events coming up on BOOKSTORE ROMANCE DAY, August 9th! From 10:30-11, I’ll be hanging out and chatting about Nora Ephron and rom-coms. This is an informal, very chill event where we can just hang out and I’ll sign books and you can have baked goods/coffee. In other words, if you wanted to hear my thoughts on Materialists or hear about some rom-com novels that I think have Nora Ephron ties, this is your chance. You don’t need to register, but check out the event listing to see the other wonderful authors who will be there throughout the morning, all of whom are my friends and all of whom write books I love.
And then in the afternoon, I’ll be at Storyline from 1-2:30 for a romance panel with Kristy Boyce, Jason B. Dutton, Libby Kay, and Kerry Rea. An all-star lineup, plus me! You can register, or get on the waitlist, here.
Okay, that’s it! Let’s get into what I’ve been reading and watching this month. Plus: I’m talking about MONEY and how I make it, I’m obsessed with a new musical artist, my kid is now a Directioner, and an analysis of the free/cheap summer movies series in Columbus.
