Yesterday was the three year anniversary of the very first post I made here on No One Asked. It would’ve been really nice if I had a newsletter birthday post up yesterday, wouldn’t it? Well, I didn’t. I had an Alice post up instead. And listen, I know this is the third post I’ve sent out this week and you’re probably like, “please, for the love of all that’s holy, stop emailing me so much,” but in my defense, the week’s first post was an emergency, the second one was a paid post, and this one is really just a solicitation for next week’s post.
Next week I’ll be doing a No One Asked birthday post to celebrate this newsletter turning THREE. Still a toddler…possibly a preschooler. I’ll take a look back at some of the best, worst, and most niche posts, but I’d love to answer any questions you have or take any suggestions for future posts. And if you tell me the mood you’re in or your viewing tastes, I’m happy to give you a personalized movie recommendation. Basically any question about books, movies, TV, whatever…put it in the comments.
Also I wanted to let you know something that I’ve never mentioned here before. Every time I hear the words “happy birthday,” I think about the Bright Eyes song At the Bottom of Everything. You might think I’m paying attention, but actually in my head I’m thinking about Terrence Stamp and Evan Rachel Wood and hearing Conor Oberst warble “We’re going to a party! It…it’s a birthday party! It’s your birthday party! Happy birthday, darling!”1
It feels good to get that off my chest. Please leave your questions in the comments! And, of course, you can always just respond to this email. See you next week. xo
You know I hate anything about crashes so the fact that this is so stuck in my brain is kind of annoying.
But if the theme is "no one asked" does asking something and getting it answered means the theme is now "well, someone asked!"? Anyway, my very excellent question: who's on your hear me out cake?
I want to know if you have any fall-themed movies or books that you like to re-watch/read at this time of year, or ones that you plan to watch/read? I’m trying to hold onto this season before winter/holiday craziness arrives
