I am also David Lynch's nightmare when it comes to watching stuff! My standards are extremely low. We watched all of Pete & Pete as a family from YouTube uploads and the quality was ROUGH and yet the kids were so into it! I always get Ed confused with EdTV, even though I know if I think about it for five seconds that they are different properties.

See, this was actually part of my problem when it came to searching for Ed online...if you just search for "Ed" a lot of things come up, but even when you narrow it down to "Ed TV show," then you get EdTV! And also Mister Ed! I guess what I'm saying is that Ed isn't a great name for a television show.

It is admittedly a very bad name for a TV show on multiple levels. And yet sounds cozy and delightful, bizarre "mainline all the backstory instead of reshooting the pilot" decision making.

Ed was such a good show. My now-husband/then-boyfriend and I watched it live on our tiny TV in our tiny grad school apartments and it was such a balm during those angst-filled adrift years. I wanted to live in that town, and we already lived in a small cozy college town. It just didn't feel like Stuckeyville . . . (because reality, sigh)

I absolutely LOVED this show, and remember watching it on TV with my parents. Every so often I’ll do an internet search, just to see if there’s progress getting the thing on streaming. Meanwhile, I remember the actors: Tom Cavanagh shows up in The Flash, and “There’s Ed!” Julie Bowen on Modern Family, and “There’s Carol!” Mike Starr is actually in a lot of stuff, like The Bodyguard, and…well, I don’t remember his character’s name, but you get the point. I absolutely loved Ed’s relationship with his best friend Mike, especially the running bit where every time one of them said “ten bucks,” the other had to take whatever challenge was offered. Thanks for writing about this!
