I try to keep things mostly positive with my online presence. Even when I write a post that’s making fun of a movie a little bit, it’s always coming from a place of love. There are a lot of reasons for this. I don’t want to focus on the negative and I don’t want to make anyone else feel bad for liking something. But sometimes I have contrary thoughts I just need to get out. Sorry, I’m human! There are some topics I’d only write about behind a paywall because they are simply too controversial, like Gilmore Girls opinions. I’ve never received messages about my political opinions that are even half as harsh as the ones I received when I revealed that I was Team Jess (do NOT start with me, I’m not looking for an argument here!! All I’m saying is the other boys were BORING and I’m here to be entertained!). That’s why my first paid post was this one about Gilmore Girls boyfriends, which I haven’t reread but I’ll go ahead and say I stand behind it. #JusticeforRune #Imkidding #OramI
In that spirit, I decided to make a post about some of my genuinely unpopular opinions. That means there are NEGATIVE things here! Some popular TV shows I just couldn’t stand, the grumpy writer I think we should just leave alone, and a controversial singer whose music, embarrassingly, I kind of love.
This is behind a paywall for a reason. Of course, most of my newsletters will remain free, but I do want to ramp up my paid posts as we head into fall. I won’t be pushy or try to equate my newsletter to the price of a cup of coffee (who am I to tell you that this newsletter is worth one coffee?? You can pry my iced matcha from my cold dead hands!). However, one fact remains: I don’t have a book coming out this year. Honestly, I would love it if more people become paid subscribers, so I hope to write more things that may incentivize you to do so. But if you don’t want to or can’t, that’s fine. Enjoy your coffee guilt-free, babe.
Okay, here we go. Unpopular opinion time!
