Let’s just get this out of the way: this roundup is LATE. As you may have read, I had Covid last month. Somehow I’ve avoided it so far, even while caring for my son when he had Covid, but it finally got me. It was an overall mild experience, except for some scary fever and heart symptoms at the very beginning. After having the worst chills all evening, I woke up sweaty multiple times throughout the first night I was sick, and at about 5 AM my Fitbit buzzed to tell me that I’d reached my weekly goal of what it calls “zone minutes,” which basically means my heart was racing. I reached my entire week’s goal in one night because I was in CARDIO ZONE while sleeping. My Fitbit was like, “babe are you tired? Because your increased heart rate lets me know you’ve been running through my dreams all night.” And I was like, “Fitbit, please, be serious.”
After that it got much better but I can’t remember the last time I had so little energy. I could do one thing per day and then it was like my body just wouldn’t function. I napped so much. Luckily I had no book travel planned and my job can mostly be done from bed, but it was still difficult. I really get my sense of self-worth from my productivity, so it was hard to not be able to do anything.
I’d love to say that we’ve been healthy since then but we haven’t. My son had pneumonia and a sinus infection, Hollis and I got some kind of weird cough from him, I’m currently on antibiotics for a sinus infection, and basically I’m behind on literally everything a person could possibly be behind on.
I’ve watched a lot of stuff lately, though. Some of it weird. This month, I’ll tell you all about the shows I watched while I was sick, a song I can’t stop listening to by a human Bratz doll, an awkward doctor’s appointment, and my thoughts on 1989 (Taylor’s Version).
Before we get to it, a reminder that you can get 20% off a yearly subscription if you subscribe between now and Friday. It’s a Black Friday deal! What am I, Best Buy in 2007? I don’t know, but please don’t line up outside my house hoping for a deal on a flatscreen television.
