Monthly Roundup Vol. 6
Barbie and Showing Up, my favorite Crazy Ex-Girlfriend songs, and crying on the bike
This is probably obvious since the date is September 10th, but the monthly roundup is late. I literally typed out a rundown of the various illnesses that have plagued us since my last paid post and then deleted it, because what is this, the monthly sickness roundup? No! So instead, while everyone’s here, a quick reminder that my book FAKING CHRISTMAS is coming out on September 26th (that’s soon) and you can preorder a signed copy and get a special bonus chapter in the Waiting for Tom Hanks/Not Like the Movies universe from The Book Loft.
In this month’s roundup: the movies, TV, books, and podcasts I’ve been into. It was a good month for consuming media. Hollis was out of town for several days and while the cat’s away, the mouse will…get Peacock. I know, I know, I swore I’d never get Peacock. Despite the fact that we have almost literally every other streaming service, even some niche ones (Hollis loves Acorn because he’s really into a British murder show that I can’t stand), I was against getting Peacock on principle. It shouldn’t exist. All those shows were on other streaming services and they should’ve just stayed there!
A reminder that the majority of my posts are and will remain free, except for these monthly roundups and the series starting this month where I reread the Alice series by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. I never want to give you a hard sell to get you to subscribe because it seems like everyone has some sort of paid subscription going these days. But I do enjoy getting paid and I try my best to make these posts very long and full of information so they’re hopefully worth it to you. If you want to find out what made me finally get Peacock and what song I cried to on the Peloton app, you can upgrade your subscription now.
